CD Projekt Red is taking The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past to Gamescom. The event will give fans a closer look at the new DLC. It’s been more than a decade since the original game was released, and over the years, the game has received several DLCs and expansions to keep the fanbase strong. However, news of Songs of the Past has been circulating for a while, with a rumor that it will be delayed.

A recent post by the developer has cleared up the confusion. On CD Projekt Red’s official website, the developer mentioned, “Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.” Additionally, the studio revealed, “Players and press attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany can receive a guided presentation of Songs of the Past at the CD PROJEKT RED booth.”

According to the announcement, the showcase will be held in the business and entertainment areas, where players and press can come and play. This showcase will also reveal more about its story and what Geralt’s next adventure has in store. The expansion has already caught attention because it follows one of the most loved games of the last decade.

The biggest challenge is living up to Blood and Wine. The earlier expansion gave players a huge new area, a strong story and some of Geralt’s best moments. It also felt like a proper goodbye to the character. Songs of the Past will need the same level of care if it wants to leave a similar mark.

The DLC will also need more than a few new quests. A good Witcher story needs interesting people, tough choices, and moments that stay with players. This is where the new expansion could make its biggest impact.

Blood and Wine is still the benchmark for Witcher expansions. It mixed humor, emotion, and adventure without losing what made Geralt special. Songs of the Past does not need to copy it. It needs to bring something fresh. Gamescom could offer the first real sign of whether CD Projekt Red can pull that off.
