Witcher fans have something new to look forward to. The Witcher: Legacy has been announced as the next official adventure in the franchise. The tabletop game is set to launch in summer 2027. The game is being developed by Go On Board with support from CD Projekt Red. Fans can expect a brand-new story rather than a retelling of events from the games or books.

The announcement comes while fans are still waiting for The Witcher 4. Since the next video game is still a few years away, The Witcher: Legacy will give players another chance to step back into the world of monster hunters.

A New Witcher Adventure Arrives Before The Witcher 4

The Witcher: Legacy is planned for a summer 2027 release. The game takes players on a new journey across the familiar world and allows them to hunt down all those enemies that have destroyed the School of the Wolf. It features an original story with fresh characters, dangerous monsters, and choices that can change how the adventure unfolds.

The game was initially announced in 2025 and is currently under development. It will be set before the Geralt era and explore Kaer Morhen and the School of the Wolf's downfall.

However, the timing is interesting. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 4 is in development. It is one of the most hyped games in the series, as Ciri is set to take charge after Geralt’s retirement in The Witcher 3. Many expect the game to arrive in or after 2027. Until then, The Witcher: Legacy will be one of the biggest new Witcher releases for fans.

How It Stands Out From Older Witcher Board Games

The Witcher: Legacy isn’t the first tabletop board game from the Witcher series. However, what sets it apart from the previous games is its focus on individual sessions and different gameplay styles.

The upcoming title places greater focus on a single connected story. Players will move through a campaign where their decisions matter. The story changes as the group moves forward, giving each playthrough its own feel. This makes it more like a long adventure than a single game night.

The developers have also introduced new mechanics that tie player choices closely to the story, making every decision more important.

Story Matters More Than Ever

The Witcher: Legacy shows how popular gaming series are growing beyond video games. More franchises are creating tabletop games with rich stories instead of simple board game rules. It gives fans another way to enjoy the worlds they love. For Witcher fans, that means a new adventure is on the way, even before The Witcher 4 finally arrives.
