Quordle functions as a multi-dimensional word puzzle, presenting players with four distinct five-letter word challenges to solve within nine attempts. The interface provides immediate feedback using a three-colour system: green (correct letter, correct position), yellow (correct letter, incorrect position), and grey (incorrect letter).
From modest beginnings as David Mah's concept to becoming part of Merriam-Webster's word game collection, Quordle has established itself as Wordle's more complex cousin. Developer Freddie Meyer's refinements to Mah's original idea created the challenging four-grid format that puzzlers enjoy today.
Players only need to guess 4 letters to guess the correct word. Guessing the first and last letter is a good strategic start to solving Quordle.
The first word starts with A (top-left).
The second word starts with G (top-right).
The third word starts with G (bottom-left).
The fourth word starts with R (bottom-right)
The first word ends with Y (top-left).
The second word ends with T (top-right)
The third word ends with E (bottom-left).
The fourth word ends with I (bottom-right).
Predicting words with vowels are the best hints in Quordle. They frequently appear in English words in a common pattern, such as CVC, consonant-vowel-consonant. For example, try "WOOZY" and "TRUNK" from the previous day's Quordle game. Select “Past Games” from the "Daily Classic" drop-down menu, then select the March 21 game.
2 vowels are in the first word (top-left).
2 vowels are in the second word (top-right).
3 vowels are in the third word (bottom-left).
2 vowels are in the fourth word (bottom-right).
Repeating letters is best suited for an elimination strategy. When a letter appears twice, half of the word can be guessed with little difficulty. Employ this strategy to cut down chances for attempts with our skilful hints below. From the 20 March 2025 game, the letter “E” helps with guessing two words and the letter “I” helps guessing with two words.
1 consonant is repeated in the first word.
No repeating letter is in the second word.
1 vowel is repeated thrice in the third word.
1 vowel is repeated twice in the fourth word.
Meaning indicates what a word could be. It's one strategy where instead of guessing letters. An entire word puzzle is guessed.
First word (top-left): A narrow passageway between or behind buildings.
Second word (top-right): The complete range or scope of something.
Third word (bottom-left): A large waterbird with a long neck and short legs.
Fourth word (bottom-right): A straight line from the centre to the circumference of a circle or sphere.
Solutions ahead. However, before that, try to guess an entire word from the 21 March 2025 game's hint; a short simple song! For those who are just interested in the final words rather than another journey, today's solution just lies ahead.
