Open Gmail on your computer or phone.

Click or tap Move to.
Choose Inbox or another folder.
Gmail then moves the email to the selected location.
Messages remain in Trash for up to 30 days before Gmail automatically deletes them.
Emails permanently deleted from Trash cannot be recovered through the standard Gmail interface.

A missing email does not necessarily mean that it was deleted. It could also be in Spam, Trash, or another location depending on Gmail settings.
Open Gmail on a computer.
Click the Show search options icon in the search bar.
Under Search, select Mail & Spam & Trash.
Enter information related to the missing email, such as the sender, subject, or keywords.

Gmail also supports the in: anywhere search operator, which searches across Gmail, including Spam and Trash.
Combining in: anywhere with relevant keywords could make it easier to locate a missing message.

Check whether emails are being forwarded to another address.
Review the forwarding options to see whether Gmail kept, archived, or deleted the original copy.
If an unfamiliar forwarding address appears, turn off forwarding and review account security. Google recommends this since an unknown forwarding address could indicate unauthorized access to the account.
For regular Gmail accounts, messages automatically deleted from Trash after 30 days cannot be recovered through Gmail. The same applies to emails permanently deleted from Trash.
Google Workspace administrators received an additional recovery window:
Administrators can restore deleted Gmail data for another 25 days after the initial 30-day Trash period.
After those additional 25 days, administrators cannot restore the messages through the Admin console.
Organizations using Google Vault can potentially retrieve older data when retention rules or holds are applied.
Vault does not directly restore those messages to a user’s Gmail account.

For emails that users wanted to keep but remove from the Inbox, Archive provides a safer option.
Archived emails remain under All Mail.
Users can still find archived messages through Gmail search.
Unlike deleted emails, archived messages do not move to Trash.
