There are three official methods that one can use to correct a wrongly linked Member ID. You have to choose one based on your issue:
This is the most common and fastest method. To begin, what you need to do is to contact your HR or employer and inform them about the matter. The HR can log into the EPFO Employer Portal. They can then select the employee profile and correct the issue between UAN and Member ID. Once EPFO verifies the correction request, the wrong Member ID gets removed.
One can use this method, if an employer linked the wrong PF account during joining or if two Member IDs from the same company are linked by mistake.
If your employer can’t help you, or the error wasn’t created by the employer, you should go for this method. For that, you have to visit EPF Grievance Portal (epfigms.gov.in). There you should click on Register Grievance. Enter your UAN and select the grievance type: PF Member ID / Service History Issue. Now, explain the problem.
In this process, you should upload documents like Aadhaar, PAN, Appointment letter. Next, you have to track progress under the ‘Check Status’ tab. Generally, it takes 3 to 7 working days to be solved.
If the incorrect Member ID contains PF balance, EPFO may require a PF transfer to clear discrepancies. In that case you have to log into the UAN Member Portal. From there, you have to go to Online Services and place a Transfer Request. Next, you have to initiate a transfer request from the wrong Member ID to the correct PF account.
Once the employer approves and EPFO completes the transfer, incorrect Member ID will get deleted automatically.
