Microsoft is working on a new set of Windows 11 improvements focused on personalization, accessibility, and everyday usability. Several of the features are currently being tested through Windows Insider builds and could arrive in future public updates.

Shared Audio Feature Could Simplify Listening on Windows

One of the most notable additions is a new Shared Audio feature. The tool allows a Windows 11 PC to stream audio to two Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) audio devices simultaneously. This means two people could listen to the same music, video, or meeting from a single computer without needing external hardware or audio splitters.

The feature is expected to benefit users who frequently share media, attend virtual meetings, or consume content together on a single device. Microsoft has been testing the capability in preview builds before a wider rollout.

Start Menu Gains More Customization Options

Microsoft is also expanding customization options for the Start menu. Insider builds show new layout controls that let users adjust the menu size and choose which sections appear. The company is also renaming the ‘Recommended’ section to ‘Recent,’ while offering more control over the type of content displayed there.

Users may also be able to hide the ‘All Apps’ section or turn off the display of frequently used applications. These changes aim to reduce clutter and give users greater control over the Start menu experience.

Taskbar Improvements Remain in Development

Microsoft is also working on further upgrades to the taskbar. It seems the company is testing a few long-awaited customizations, such as more flexibility in where the taskbar sits and how it’s displayed. That kind of change aligns with other Microsoft efforts to boost Windows 11 personalization in a way that feels a bit more tweakable for everyday use.

In addition, the company has been polishing widgets, search functionality, and accessibility tools, and improving responsiveness. The updates introduced in recent preview versions include improvements to file search, voice commands, and the operating system's performance.

When Will Features Become Available?

There has been no official announcement regarding the availability of the updates. As they are still under development, there may be changes in how they look and function.
