A leaked document linked to The Pokémon Company has grabbed the attention of every Pokémon fan. The leak suggests the company once discussed raising the price of future Pokémon games. It also looked at new ways to convince players to buy both versions of the same game. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the latest buzz has started a fresh debate among fans.

The timing has made the discussion even bigger. Nintendo has already increased the price of some first-party Switch 2 games. That’s what many players believe Pokémon could be next.

Leak Points to Higher Prices and Better Reasons to Buy Both Versions

The talk of Nintendo wanting to raise the prices of the Pokémon games has been in the air for a long time already. A recent leak has shown that The Pokémon Company has been on the same track since the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield in 2019.

The leaked presentation shows that The Pokémon Company explored charging more for future Pokémon games. It also discussed adding more value for players who buy both versions of a release. However, the external factors that were mainly responsible for the price rise no longer exist, thus, the games are still affordable.

Pokémon games have followed the two-version format for years. Each version usually includes a few exclusive Pokémon and small differences. Many fans buy only the digital copy, while others collect both digital and physical. The leak suggests the company may want to make buying both versions more attractive in the future.

The report has gained more attention because Pokémon Winds and Waves has reportedly appeared at a higher price on some retailer listings. Nintendo has not confirmed the game's final price, so fans should treat these reports as speculation for now.

Could this Be Nintendo's New Pricing Plan?

The leak also raises a bigger question: Is Nintendo planning to charge more for all of its biggest games? The company has already released some Switch 2 games at higher prices. This includes Mario Kart World and upgraded versions of The Legend of Zelda titles. If Pokémon follows the same path, it may be part of a broader pricing plan rather than a one-time change.

At the moment, Nintendo has not announced any new pricing for Pokémon. Until it does, the leak remains an internal idea rather than an official decision.

Fans are Waiting for an Official Answer

The leaked document does not confirm what Nintendo or The Pokémon Company will do next. However, it offers a look at ideas that these two parties have been discussing for a long time. If Pokémon games eventually cost as much as Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda, Call of Duty, or Grand Theft Auto, it will be hard for gamers to afford them as they have been doing throughout the years.
