Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal’s wearable technology venture, Temple, is preparing for the next stage of its product rollout, revealing a significantly smaller version of its wearable device. The updated design is reportedly around half the size of the earlier version, addressing one of the biggest challenges associated with wearable technology: making advanced hardware comfortable enough for everyday use.
The company is also expected to open pre-orders soon, giving consumers an opportunity to get access to Temple’s first consumer-focused product.
Temple has been developing a wearable designed to sit near the user's temple, an unusual position compared with conventional smartwatches and fitness trackers. The latest version reportedly reduces the device's overall size by about 50%. This could make it less noticeable when worn and potentially improve comfort during extended use.
The smaller form factor is an important development, as wearable devices need to balance sensors, battery capacity, and computing hardware with weight and size constraints. Reducing the physical footprint without compromising functionality can be particularly challenging for a device designed to be worn close to the head.
Temple did not reveal every technical specification of the updated version, but the company indicated that the redesigned product is moving closer to consumer availability.
The company is expected to begin accepting pre-orders in the near future, signaling that Temple is moving beyond the development stage. Pre-orders would also provide an early indication of consumer interest in a product that takes a different approach to personal technology. Instead of placing most of the hardware on the wrist, Temple's device is designed around the temple area.
That could open up possibilities for hands-free interactions and other applications, although the exact capabilities available at launch will determine how the product fits into the growing wearable market.

The Temple project represents Deepinder Goyal’s expansion beyond food delivery and restaurant technology. After building Zomato into one of India's most recognizable consumer internet businesses, Goyal increasingly showed interest in technology and hardware ventures.
Wearable technology has increasingly moved beyond smartwatches and earbuds, with companies experimenting with devices designed for different parts of the body. Temple's approach is particularly distinctive because it aims to place technology close to the head while keeping the device compact.
A smaller design could improve the product's appeal to consumers who may be reluctant to wear bulky hardware throughout the day. It may also make the device easier to integrate into everyday routines, although factors such as battery life, comfort, durability, and available features will ultimately determine its practicality.
