Fortnite could soon go back in time. Epic Games is said to be working on bringing back one of its best-ever collaborations, Marvel’s Nexus War. The information comes from well-known leaker ShiinaBR, who reports that Epic is considering reviving past crossover seasons. This includes full theme areas, mythic weapons, and rehashed battle pass cosmetics.
If the plan moves forward, Marvel’s Nexus War, first introduced in 2020 as Fortnite’s debut crossover season, could return as part of Fortnite OG’s future lineup in 2026 or 2027. That would mark the first time a licensed collaboration features in the nostalgia-driven OG format.
Fortnite’s latest experiment, Blitz Royale, is turning out to be more than a fleeting test. It was initially touted as an action-packed, mobile-focused mode featuring a five-minute battle royale. Blitz Royale has achieved immense popularity on all platforms due to its intense gameplay and competitive promotion.
The cross-platform nature of the format and short-session appeal encouraged Epic Games to stretch the lifespan of the mode for another four weeks. This was an uncommon turnaround for a company reputed for aggressively rotating content.
Epic has also teased new crossovers and new map locations in the Blitz Royale experience in the next few weeks. This hints that the mode could become a permanent addition.
Not all of its updates have settled well. In the early spring, Epic shut down ranked versions of Fortnite OG due to ‘matchmaking health,’ a probable codename for flagging player interest. Team Rumble, a community-held casual mode that players used to grind quests, was cut.
Whereas both moves upset loyalists, Epic seems intent on dropping low-engagement modes. This is an effort to accommodate content with wider appeal. The huge success of Blitz Royale and its quick evolution highlight this movement towards short-form, high-retention game experiences.

Now, Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 3 features a new collaboration with Superman (2025). This solidifies the multiverse philosophy of the game. If Marvel’s Nexus War returns, it would bring Fortnite’s past and present together.
This would mark Epic’s willingness to reuse its biggest franchises for future generations. For the time being, everyone is watching the way Blitz Royale performs in its ongoing stint. Players are questioning if it will become the proving grounds for Fortnite’s next level of crossover-inspired evolution.
