Elon Musk has announced a new effort to strengthen his position in the technology world. The Tesla CEO will be establishing Macrohard, a new AI-driven company under his xAI venture. Industry insiders state that this newly launched company aims to work like another tech giant, Microsoft, but there’s a twist. This Musk-led company will have hundreds of specialized AI agents to replicate coding.
Announced on August 23, 2025, Macrohard relies on AI agents to design, code, test, and even simulate users. The target is to build the software completely through automation. Backed by xAI, Musk’s plan directly challenges Microsoft and its dominance in the global software industry.
According to the latest reports, Macrohard plans to replicate the functional capabilities of Microsoft, but it will be based on artificial intelligence completely. Musk, on his official Twitter (currently X), revealed, “In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI.”
This latest project involves multi-agent collaboration, where AI systems do more than just generate code. They will test, debug, and refine them until they meet the standard.
Elon Musk has filed a trademark for this new company, and this shows Macrohard has a range of activities on its list, including AI-generated speech, text, and gaming software, to broader creative services.
With this AI ecosystem, Musk is trying to position Marcohard AI agents as a direct competitor to Microsoft, the company that has created a range of productivity tools from Word and Excel to PowerPoint to help professionals across the world.
Elon Musk’s relationship with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been marked by cooperation and rivalry. Despite Musk criticizing Nadella for the partnership with OpenAI, these two leaders had a meeting before Musk launched Grok 3 in May.
However, this time Musk has been betting on speed, autonomy, and cost-efficiency with his latest idea of an AI-only software company. If this venture becomes successful, it may seriously challenge the long-unchallenged dominance of Microsoft in the software sector by injecting fresh disruption into enterprise ecosystems.
Additionally, it will show the tech world that Musk knows the challenge is tough, but he wants the world to take it seriously.

Macrohard entering the scene might turn the tables completely. If a software company can be run by AI agents, this will change the notion of a traditional software company and the way it runs. For developers, it raises huge questions about the role of human labor, what the future holds for software craftsmanship, and how AI intersects with creativity and problem-solving.
Corporations might have to re-strategize on procurement and vendor relations in case AI-native products are able to really compete with the older ones. At the same time, the tension on automation, job displacement, liability, and AI governance will grow more than ever.
