Activision is firing on all cylinders as Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 5 are set to launch on August 7 at 9 AM PST. The highly awaited update will unleash a blaze of content, from returning fan favorites and new weapons to multiplayer maps, adjustments, and Zombie chaos.
At the forefront of the launch pack is the return of Sims, one of the series’ most recognizable operators, seen in early teases holding what was rumored to be the M249. Devis has now officially identified the weapon as the PML 5.56, a new light machine gun seen in Season 5.
The ABR A1 assault rifle, which launches at launch, and the Gravemark .357 revolver, which will come in a mid-season update, are also coming to Season 5's arsenal. Close-combat fans will receive a cheeky but deadly spin, and boxing gloves are coming to melee weapons, allowing players to punch out enemies.

Call of Duty Season 5 brings three new multiplayer maps to Call of Duty: a reworked WMD, a classic Black Ops map with its close sightlines and industrial atmosphere; a later highlight in the rotation is Jackpot, a flashy, casino-themed map inspired by Black Ops 4’s bright color scheme.
Zombies mode also receives a power-franked boost. A new boss enemy, Uber Klaus, will emerge, wearing the cover of a mechanized exosuit built to unleash the ultimate carnage. Players can unleash the Gorgofex, a sci-fi energy firearm with catastrophic consequences, to defeat him.
These features are intended to heighten the intensity and diversity of gameplay, appealing to both lone operators and complete squads seeking new challenges.
As for modes, Season 5 brings with it ‘Aim High’, a new challenge in which only headshots count as damage. The mode is poised to hone reflexes and challenge accuracy. Meanwhile, old favorites such as Snipers Only and Cranked Moshpit are also returning on rotation, bringing high-skill matchups that reward quick hands and accurate aim.
But what might be the most significant shock to loyalists is Activision’s confirmation that two classic Call of Duty games will be re-released as a-la-carte titles. While no titles have been announced, the gesture makes one thing obvious: mix and match nostalgia and next-gen firepower to keep the franchise’s heart beating.
From revived legends and future-proof firepower to new maps and legacy overhauls, Season 5 will be a defining saga for Call of Duty’s modern era.
