Activision and Treyarch has announced a thrilling collaboration for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for Season 5, set to launch on August 7, 2025. Celebrating the release of the latest horror thriller from Sony Pictures, I Know What You Did Last Summer, the event introduces a unique Operator: The Fisherman.

This hook-wielding killer from the iconic 1997 slasher franchise is now playable in multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone modes.

What We Know So Far

Launch Date and Release

Season 5 launches on August 7, 2025, with the finale of the Season 4 battle pass also happening on the same day. The teaser was dropped by the official Call of Duty social channels, followed by an X post on July 19, 2025, carrying a dark tagline.

“Last summer, they knew what you did. This summer, the Fisherman’s on your lobby.”

Fisherman Operator & Cosmetic Drop

The biggest thing about this crossover is the playable Fisherman Operator, who is dressed in a cool black raincoat and sports a scary-looking hook as his signature weapon.

We will expect the full array of thematic cosmetics: skins, weapon blueprints, and calling cards - all soaked in the eerie coastal-horror aura that harks way back to the movie.

Event-Style Unlocks and Challenges

Full details are yet to be revealed, but skins and weapon blueprints will likely be unlocked through challenges particular to the event. The finale has been confirmed to have the Zombies map. Janus Towers, new weapons, and Operators like Sims from Black Ops Cold War.

Fan Reactions

On Reddit, the crossover was divided in opinion: “It’s actually a sequel to a late 90s slasher… so it does actually work.”

Players saw it as one of the more fitting horror tie-ins for Black Ops 6, considering the game setting being in the 1990s, as well as the existing horror-genre elements within the campaign.

What to Expect & Watch For

New Modes and Challenges: Perhaps a thematic playlist with narrative-based challenges and cosmetic rewards.

Themed Rewards: Operators, weapon blueprints, emblems, and skins - probably purchasable with CoD Points or earnable through additional progression.

Extended Horror Narrative: This could allow for cameo dialogue, film-related Easter eggs, and atmospheric map changes - especially Zombies.
