Truecaller has released the highly requested live caller ID functionality for iPhone operating system users. The update arrived after Apple released the privacy-oriented Live Caller ID Lookup framework aimed at apps such as Truecaller. With this feature, the protection of data is maintained while users get instant identification of anonymous callers.
Before the update, iPhone users were obliged to transfer numbers into Truecaller for identification. The framework imposed strict privacy rules on Apple to prevent third-party apps from accessing iPhone native call information. Real-time caller identification became possible under the new framework through homomorphic encryption technology which maintains user privacy capabilities.
Using live caller ID through the iPhone requires users to maintain version 18.2 of iOS or newer and update their Truecaller application to version 14.0 or later.
Open iPhone Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification.
Enable all Truecaller-related switches.
Reopen the Truecaller app to complete the setup.
Once enabled, the app displays the caller's name in real time, allowing users to decide whether to answer or ignore the call. In addition to identifying calls, Truecaller now blocks spam calls automatically, enhancing the overall experience.
Truecaller Premium users on iOS can also access advanced features, such as searching previously identified calls from the Recents list, with a history of up to 2,000 numbers. Free users, however, will continue using manual searches for unknown callers and enjoy ad-supported access to caller IDs for verified businesses.
This update makes it easier for iPhone users to identify genuine calls while avoiding spam and fraudulent ones. Truecaller remains committed to enhancing privacy and offering convenient solutions for managing communications.
