The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized its largest-ever cryptocurrency haul worth Rs 1,646 crore in a major money laundering investigation. The case involves a fraudulent investment scheme through the BitConnect lending program, which duped numerous depositors between November 2016 and January 2018. The ED, acting on a Surat Police FIR, also seized Rs 13.50 lakh in cash, an SUV, and digital devices. A team of experts analyzed complex crypto wallet transactions to trace the fraud's origin and identify its controllers. The case is being investigated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
