Reliance Jio launched JioPC as a standalone cloud computing service, allowing users to turn existing laptops and desktops into cloud-powered computers without buying new hardware. The service, previously available only to JioHome broadband subscribers, is now open to consumers across India, regardless of their telecom or broadband provider.
JioPC uses cloud computing to provide additional computing power for existing computers. Depending on the plan, users can access up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage in the cloud.
The service targets users whose computers run slowly, run out of storage, or struggle with newer software. Jio says the offering is particularly suited to computers that are around three to four years old.
The company also claims that computers as old as eight years can access the performance, storage, and capabilities needed for AI-powered applications through JioPC.
Jio says users can subscribe to and activate JioPC in less than five minutes. The process does not require data migration, new hardware installation, or downtime.
JioPC is available in two configurations. The standard JioPC plan comes with 8GB of RAM and 500GB of storage, while JioPC Ultra offers 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The standard JioPC plan costs Rs. 1,000 for two months, Rs. 2,000 for five months, and Rs. 4,000 for 10+2 months.
JioPC Ultra is priced at Rs. 1,200 for two months, Rs. 2,500 for five months, and Rs. 5,000 for 10+2 months. All prices include GST.

Since JioPC operates in the cloud, users need a stable internet connection. Jio says the service works with broadband as well as reliable 4G and 5G connections.
The service can be accessed through a supported web browser. Users can also access JioPC on a TV through a Jio Set-Top Box, using a keyboard and mouse.
JioPC runs on Ubuntu/Linux and supports LibreOffice and browser-based applications. The company is positioning the service as a way for homes, schools, professionals, and small businesses to continue using older computers without incurring expensive hardware upgrades.
