According to ChannelNews Australia, which cited a Chinese component supplier, the delay is ‘primarily down to supply and pricing issues.’ Production testing problems could also affect some units already built for the iPhone Ultra.
The supply pressure could make a worldwide launch difficult for Apple during the first few months. Foldable screens and hinges require careful production checks before reaching customers. Apple could therefore use a smaller US launch to manage limited early stock.
Australian carriers and a major retailer reportedly expect the foldable iPhone to miss the September launch. The market may have to wait several months before receiving the device. Other countries can also face similar delays if production remains limited.
