Indian equity indices traded in positive territory in the first half of the session, despite profit booking holding back gains from moving further north. The Nifty 50 was last seen trading flat at 23,908.10, posting gains of 0.59% after experiencing wide volatility since the opening of the trade session. Initially, the index traded weak, rebounded strongly to touch a high, but later eased off.
From the above analysis, one can see that traders are continuing to take profits at higher levels but are buying selectively at dips. High volatility is seen to persist through the trade session, implying that traders remain cautiously optimistic about upcoming triggers both domestically and internationally.
The BSE Sensex closed the session at approximately 83,467, gaining around 862 points, or 1.04%, according to the chart. The index traded within a broad range, touching an intraday high near 83,615 while remaining comfortably above the day's low.
From a broader technical perspective, the daily chart shows the Sensex has been attempting to recover from the sharp correction witnessed earlier this year. However, the recent candles indicate that resistance at higher levels continues to attract selling pressure.
Volume activity remained healthy, suggesting active participation from institutional and retail investors. The index has reclaimed important psychological levels, but sustaining above these levels will be critical to extending the ongoing recovery.
Investors are likely to monitor earnings announcements, foreign institutional investor (FII) flows, and macroeconomic developments for further direction. If buying interest continues, the benchmark could attempt another move toward recent highs. On the downside, any break below immediate support may invite fresh selling pressure.
The Nifty 50 maintained positive territory for intraday trading, with its price level quoted at 23,908.10, a gain of 0.59%.
The intraday chart shows that the index was filled with wide fluctuations. After a weak opening, the index staged an upward move and reached the session high before profit-booking set in. Despite the reduced gains at the later part of the session, the index was still able to remain above its opening price level.
From a technical perspective, the index continues to form a pattern of higher lows, which is usually positive. However, frequent retracements of intraday highs imply that traders are not chasing prices.
Market players will be keeping an eye on the important sector weights like information technology, financials, auto, and energy because these sectors will determine the future movement of the benchmark index.
In terms of intraday trading, any sustained buying above the current level will help improve positive momentum.
Nifty Bank was seen hovering around 56,990.85 and gained almost 297 points or 0.52%.
As evident from the daily chart, the bank index has rebounded significantly from its low, but at the moment it is ranging sideways. The recent chart pattern depicts an alternating series of green and red candles, which suggests indecision among market participants.
The role played by the private banks in the index bounce is noticeable, and the market players are cautious and waiting for any further developments in the sector. There is a decent volume of trades, even though the traders tend to book their profits at times.
Any upside break above its recent highs will certainly boost bullish sentiment in the market, because the banking sector carries considerable weightage in the index.
The Indian share markets managed to stay firm amidst volatility during the day on the back of a cautious bullish sentiment from the investor community. While the Sensex and Nifty were seen trading with an overall positive bias, Bank Nifty extended its rally on account of selective buying in banking stocks. Even though resistance at higher levels is evident, the overall market structure indicates that buyers are still coming in on dips. Moving ahead, earnings, external cues, FII inflows, and economic factors will continue to be the dominant catalysts.
