Apple is testing two new AI-powered audio features, Siri Recap and Live Rewind, in the watchOS 27.3 beta. Designed for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 users, the tools aim to make conversations easier to revisit by highlighting key information and recovering recently missed details.

Live Rewind allows users to retrieve the previous 15 seconds of a conversation as a text snippet. By double-pressing the Apple Watch's Digital Crown, users can view what was recently said, ask Siri for clarification, or save the information in the Siri app for later reference.

The feature could be useful during meetings, presentations or everyday conversations when someone misses an important detail. Unwanted snippets automatically disappear after 30 seconds if they are not saved.

Siri Recap Creates Short Conversation Summaries

Siri Recap takes a different approach by generating a brief summary of conversations, including a title and key points. Instead of providing a complete transcript, it highlights useful information such as dates, deadlines, prices, and action items.

Users can review these summaries in the Siri app and save relevant notes to Apple Notes or Journal. Users can also schedule the feature for specific times, such as working hours, and turn it off whenever needed.

Compatibility and Privacy Details

Both features require an Apple Watch Series 12 or Apple Watch Ultra 4 paired with an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone 16 or later, excluding the iPhone 16e. They will initially support English and will not be available in the European Union.

Apple says the features do not store raw audio recordings or identify individual speakers. Live Rewind displays a visual indicator and plays an audible chime when activated, while Siri Recap is designed to exclude sensitive information. The features also have daily usage limits. Their arrival in the developer beta marks another step in Apple's efforts to bring AI-powered assistance to wearable devices.
