Series 12 offers the biggest upgrade in health tracking with its new Health Sensor System and Readiness features.
Both models share a 24-hour battery rating, but Series 12 charges faster and reaches 12 hours of use from a 15-minute charge.
Series 11 remains the better value when its price sits well below Series 12
The Apple Watch Series 12 offers useful upgrades over Series 11, but the change is not a full design reset. Both models have 42mm and 46mm case sizes, 64GB storage, a 2,000-nit Always-On Retina OLED display, 24-hour battery life, and 38 hours in Low Power Mode. Series 12 starts at Rs. 56,900 in India, while Series 11 starts at Rs. 41,900. The Rs. 15,000 price gap gives Series 11 a value case, while Series 12 offers newer health hardware.
The largest change sits inside Series 12. Apple adds a new Health Sensor System with an always-on optical heart sensor and a third-generation electrical heart sensor. The watch can check background heart rate every five seconds throughout the day. This higher rate of data collection supports Readiness, Health Age, expanded Vitals data, recovery heart rate, heart rate variability, and more detailed fitness and recovery insights.
Series 11 already offers a strong health set. It has heart rate checks, ECG, heart rate variability, temperature data, sleep data, sleep score, sleep apnoea notifications, hypertension notifications, and blood oxygen where available. Series 12 keeps these core tools with a deeper health data layer.
The screen does not offer a major upgrade. Both watches use an Always-On Retina OLED display with LTPO3, 326 pixels per inch, a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. The 42mm models have a 374 × 446 resolution, while the 46mm models have a 416 × 496 resolution.
Series 12 adds a useful protection change. Aluminum models use Ceramic Shield 2, while Series 11 aluminum models use Ion-X glass. Titanium models on both generations use sapphire crystal.

Apple rates both models for up to 24 hours of normal use. Low Power Mode can extend that figure to 38 hours on both watches. Series 12 gains an advantage at the charger. A 15-minute charge can provide up to 12 hours of normal use, compared with 8 hours on Series 11. A five-minute charge can provide up to 10 hours of sleep data, while Series 11 can provide up to 8 hours.
Series 12 uses the S11 chip, while Series 11 uses the S10 chip. Both chips have a dual-core design and a four-core Neural Engine. The S11 adds newer support for the health system and Apple Intelligence features.
The speed gap should not feel dramatic in normal use. The newer chip gives Series 12 a stronger base for its extra health and AI features.
Both watches keep the familiar Apple Watch shape and offer 42mm and 46mm cases. Series 12 adds ceramic as a new case choice, with Pearl White and Night Blue options. Aluminum colors include Dark Bronze, Light Gold, Black, and Space Grey. Titanium comes in Radiant Gold and Natural.
Series 11 offers Rose Gold, Silver, Space Grey, and Jet Black aluminum options. Its titanium choices are Gold, Natural, and Slate.
The 46mm Series 12 aluminum model weighs 39.5g, compared with 37.8g for Series 11. The 42mm versions weigh 32.2g and 30.3g, respectively. Both models have a thickness of 9.7mm.
Series 12 also has slightly different case dimensions. The 46mm model measures 46 × 40mm, while Series 11 measures 46 × 39mm. The 42mm Series 12 measures 42 × 37mm, compared with 42 × 36mm for Series 11.

Series 12 has the stronger feature set. Its health sensor system, Readiness, faster charge speed, Ceramic Shield 2, ceramic case option, and newer AI features give it a clear edge. Series 11 still offers the main Apple Watch experience, with the same case sizes, storage, display brightness, battery life, water resistance, dust resistance, ECG, temperature sensor, sleep tools, GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, and second-generation Ultra Wideband.
For a new purchase, Series 12 is the more complete choice. Series 11 makes more sense when a large discount appears. For a current Series 11 owner, an upgrade has less value unless the newer health tools or faster charge speed matter a lot.
The gap between both watches is less about basic smartwatch use and more about health data, new sensors, and extra features. Series 12 moves the Apple Watch platform forward without a major change to the familiar formula.
