CD Projekt Red has released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, bringing a broad set of visual, gameplay, and quality-of-life improvements to the 2015 role-playing game. The remastered edition is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Existing owners on eligible platforms can access the upgrade at no additional cost. The release also brings The Witcher 3 to Nintendo Switch 2 as a native version for the first time.

Combat and Progression Get an Overhaul

The update goes beyond a graphical refresh. CD Projekt Red has reworked the game's combat and progression systems, with changes designed to give players more options as Geralt develops.

The skill and character progression system has been revamped, and combat animations and finishing moves have also been improved. Monster behavior has been updated, and movement, traversal, and mount handling have been refined.

A new Reforge system adds another layer to gear customization, while transmogrification lets players alter the appearance of equipment. These changes give returning players more ways to experiment with builds and customize Geralt's appearance.

UI, Photo Mode and Accessibility Improvements

The remaster also updates parts of the interface that players interact with throughout the adventure. The user interface has been redesigned, while Photo Mode gets additional features to give players more flexibility when capturing scenes across the game's open world.

CD Projekt Red has also added accessibility options and other quality-of-life improvements. Mod support is another major addition, giving PC players more flexibility to customize their experience.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version also received platform-specific enhancements. Players can use motion controls for actions such as casting Witcher signs, firing the crossbow, and handling Roach, while gyro aiming, touch controls, and mouse support offer additional ways to play.

Expansions Included and More Witcher Content Ahead

The remastered release includes the original game, plus Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red has also made those two expansions available to existing owners at no additional cost as part of its broader update.

The release also sets the stage for the next chapter in Geralt's story. Songs of the Past, the third expansion for The Witcher 3, is scheduled for 2027 and will introduce players to the new region of Letten.

With the remaster, CD Projekt Red is giving one of its biggest releases a substantial technical and gameplay refresh while continuing to expand the Witcher universe.
