Tata Motors has cut the price of the Tiago EV to Rs. 6.99 lakh in India. This move has made the small EV market more active again. The update has created strong interest in the affordable EV India segment. MG Comet EV remains the only close competitor in this price range. Both cars target people who want a low-cost electric car for daily travel.
Tata Tiago EV looks like a normal hatchback car. It has five seats and more space inside the cabin. The base model comes with a 19.2 kWh battery pack. It produces 61 hp of power and 110 Nm of torque. Tata claims a driving range of around 226 km. This makes it useful for daily city driving and short weekend trips. The Tiago EV feels more practical for families who need extra space.
MG Comet EV is very small and built only for city roads. It comes with a 17.3 kWh battery pack. The motor produces 42 hp of power and 110 Nm of torque. The claimed range is about 230 km. The design focuses on short travel inside cities and tight parking spaces. This makes it a strong choice for people who drive alone or with one passenger.
Both cars offer slightly different features based on size and purpose. The Tiago EV has key safety items like six airbags, traction control, and regenerative braking. It also comes with a digital display and climate control in the base version.
On the other hand, the MG Comet EV brings modern tech features such as power windows, Bluetooth audio, steering controls, and a big screen setup. Despite its small size, it feels a lot more stylish inside, like it just looks and feels more lively.
Space is a major difference between the two models. The Tiago EV has proper rear seats and a usable boot space. This helps families carry luggage and travel comfortably. The MG Comet EV has very limited space. The rear seats are tight, and the boot is almost not usable. It works better as a second car for short daily use.
Driving comfort also shows a clear difference. The Tiago EV feels more stable on highways and rough roads. It gives more confidence during long drives. The MG Comet EV is easy to drive in traffic and park in small spaces. However, it feels less stable when driving at higher speeds or on uneven roads.
In terms of value, the Tiago EV seems to give more car for the money you pay. It provides better space, stronger pull, and more practical flexibility for everyday use.
The MG Comet EV tends to be cheaper in terms of overall day-to-day running, and it’s easier to manage in busy city lanes. Both cars are aimed at different needs in the EV price India market and are targeted at different buyer segments.
