Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has announced plans to integrate Google Photos into its smart TVs. Now, users can enjoy their visual memories on a larger screen, available on the 2026 Samsung TV models starting from its Crystal UHD U8000 series.
This functionality is subject to software updates depending on demographics. The move is aimed at transforming your television to a more personal experience, enabling families to watch their trips, hobbies, and everyday moments together in the living room.
Samsung noted how TVs have always been a primary gathering point in most homes. Integrating personal photo libraries into the device deepens this connection by adding an emotional layer to your regular viewing experience.
According to Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the customer experience team at Samsung’s visual display business, it is all about users living the story behind their photos on the big screen. Viewing photos in a wider, more cinematic format makes personal content feel as dynamic and immersive as entertainment streaming.
With the upcoming integration, consumers can browse curated memories organized by people, places, and key moments. Photos may also surface throughout the day via Samsung’s Daily+ and Daily Board, which allow memories to appear naturally rather than users having to search for them.
The experience will also integrate Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, further broadening how personal content is highlighted and enjoyed.
Samsung explained that this interaction with memories on TVs will work in three major ways:
Memories: Curated photo stories based on people, places, and meaningful moments.
Created with AI: Themed templates powered through ‘Nano Banana’, an image generation and editing model from Google DeepMind, plus tools like ‘Remiz’ and ‘Photo to Video’.
Personalized Results: Slideshows based on themes, such as travel, nature, or location.
Some of the creative AI templates will be available only on Samsung TVs.
