The Samsung One UI 8.5 Update, originally anticipated for the Galaxy S25 Series in November, might get postponed. Recent leaks indicate that internal schedule changes for the Galaxy S26 lineup have disrupted the testing cycle of the next-generation smartphones, impacting both the beta and final releases.
Tipster Tarun Vats shared on X that the public Samsung One UI Beta launch “seems unlikely” to take place in November as initially planned. The tech giant has not released any official statement.
According to internal sources, the company has decided to change its software testing priorities due to late hardware changes in the upcoming flagship series.
Despite the delay, One UI 8.5 offers several new improvements to make the user experience smoother and more intuitive. It is anticipated that the update will include AI-driven notifications, a new Quick Settings panel, improved Modes and Routines, and additional lock-screen customization options.
These improvements are a continuation of One UI 8, unveiled earlier this year, which provided significant performance and UI enhancements.
The delay in Samsung’s One UI 8.5 rollout may also be due to the company’s ongoing rework of the Galaxy S26 lineup. The tech leader initially planned to replace its standard and Plus models with the new Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge.
However, after Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge failed to impress the market, the smartphone giant allegedly opted to focus more on Galaxy S26 Plus. This change in strategy at such a late stage is thought to have disrupted the internal testing schedule, which, in turn, impacted the One UI 8.5 Update rollout more or less directly.
While Samsung has not provided a revised release window, industry analysts believe the One UI 8.5 postponement schedule could result in only a short delay. Given the company’s track record, the update will likely arrive soon after testing stabilizes.
The One UI 8.5 update is directed towards enhancing Samsung's Android experience. This is expected to be fulfilled through the provision of more personalization options and improved AI tool integration.
Although it has been postponed, the update is still among the most eagerly awaited software releases ahead of the Galaxy S26 launch in 2026.
