Samsung has launched a new Perplexity AI app for its latest Smart TVs, making it easier to find answers, search for shows, and explore new topics without leaving the screen. The app is part of Samsung’s growing Vision AI Companion platform.
The Perplexity TV App is the first of its kind. It brings the power of Perplexity’s real-time answer engine straight to television screens. It works like a talking assistant that can respond to questions, suggest content, and give helpful information in seconds.
The app is now available on Samsung’s 2025 Smart TVs and will roll out to 2023 and 2024 models later this year through a software update. Samsung said the app blends Perplexity’s smart search tools with its own AI system to make TVs more useful and interactive.
Using the app is simple. Open it from the Apps menu or press the AI button on the remote. After agreeing to the terms and turning on the microphone, ask any question from “What movie should I watch tonight?” to “What’s the weather tomorrow?” The answers appear on the screen with clear visuals and short, easy-to-read cards.
People who use the app can also claim a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription by scanning a QR code shown inside the app. This gives access to more advanced features and faster responses.
The Perplexity app supports both voice commands and typing, so anyone can use it comfortably. It also connects with other AI services like Microsoft Copilot and Samsung’s own AI tools through the Vision AI Companion system.
Samsung said this launch is an important step in making Smart TVs smarter. Instead of being just for watching shows or movies, the TV can now act as a helpful companion that assists with everyday questions, ideas, and recommendations.
This is also Perplexity's first major collaboration in the worldwide television market, which indicates the increasing importance of AI in consumer electronics. The new application modifies the interaction of the users with their television sets; they have now become user-friendly devices for uncovering, educating, and entertaining.
Samsung continues to build its Vision AI Companion platform with new features that make the TV experience more natural and personal. With the Perplexity app, the company moves closer to creating a truly intelligent home screen.
