The erosion in market capitalization of four of the top ten most valued companies in India has been Rs. 87,960.29 crore during the week, out of which Bharti Airtel witnessed the biggest loss. This decrease occurred as the benchmark indices closed in the red, influenced by high crude oil prices and elevated global bond yields.
During the week, the Sensex has decreased by 468.42 points, or 0.60%, while the Nifty has declined by 114 points, or 0.46%. This was due to cautious investor sentiment stemming from certain international and local factors.
Bharti Airtel reported the biggest decline among the four companies, with its market valuation falling by Rs. 28,052.96 crore to Rs. 12,14,963.15 crore.
Tata Consultancy Services followed, losing Rs. 22,070.34 crore in market capitalization. Its valuation stood at Rs. 8,31,436.51 crore at the end of the week.
State Bank of India also witnessed a decline of Rs. 20,861.20 crore, taking its market capitalization to Rs. 9,64,968.76 crore. Hindustan Unilever lost Rs. 16,975.79 crore, with its valuation ending at Rs. 4,73,912.56 crore.
Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said Indian equity markets ended the week on a cautious note and extended their recent corrective phase.
He attributed the pressure to elevated crude oil prices, rising global bond yields and persistent geopolitical uncertainty, which continued to weigh on investor sentiment. The decline among several major companies came as benchmark indices remained under pressure through the week.
