OpenClaw hit the internet by storm when it was officially launched in November 2025. It started off as an open-source tool that transformed an AI into a completely automated personal assistant that lived inside your computer and performed chores on your behalf.
OpenClaw's AI agent is now available on smartphones for the first time thanks to the release of its separate mobile apps for iOS and Android users.
Through the apps, users may converse with an AI assistant and grant it access to capabilities including the camera, screen, location, images, contacts, calendar, and reminders.
The purpose of the OpenClaw technology is to interact with applications and other systems to accomplish certain actions through permission by the user unlike ordinary chatbots that are programmed to answer queries. The launch is one of the major milestones of OpenClaw which evolved from a small-scale open-source project into a recognized brand within the AI industry.
Following the recent incorporation of Peter Steinberger, who created the application, at OpenAI, the current management of the project is being done through OpenClaw Foundation. While the foundation has put out the mobile applications, it was previously said by OpenAI that it will support the project, although it did not specify how.
The Android application is expected to work through the user's personal OpenClaw Gateway, making a smartphone an ideal partner for automation and communication driven by AI technology, according to the Google Play Store page.
The app lets users:
Use a setup code or QR code to pair the app with a private OpenClaw Gateway.
Use their smartphone to have direct conversations with the AI assistant.
Use push-to-talk and Talk mode to have voice chats in real time.
Examine and accept the activities that the linked gateway has asked.
Allow the AI to access the camera, screen, location, and notifications on the device at any time.
Get status updates and push notifications for linked workflows.
Users are still in charge of deciding which device rights to provide, according to the business.

The Android app created by OpenClaw marks a larger transition from chatbots powered by AI to AI agents that can carry out tasks in the real world with the consent of users. With OpenClaw’s backing and assistance from OpenAI, focus will now be on security, reliability, and developer acceptance.
