The United Arab Emirates and the United States have signed a comprehensive agreement to advance cooperation in artificial intelligence and energy. The deal, witnessed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was signed by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber on behalf of the UAE and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on behalf of the US.
Under this framework, the two nations will join forces to develop industrial capabilities and adopt smart manufacturing technologies. The collaboration covers the deployment of AI in robotics, automation, and materials engineering, and includes knowledge-exchange and capacity-building programmes.
Dr Al Jaber described the agreement, signed at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, as a clear signal of the UAE’s ambition to form global partnerships and drive a knowledge-based economy. He noted the initiative will reinforce high-tech manufacturing, stronger supply chains, and the “Make it in the Emirates” agenda.
Secretary Doug Burgum emphasised that the joint commitment builds on earlier pledges by US leadership and strengthens both nations’ roles in energy and technology innovation.
The collaboration will be extensive, covering various key areas. First, smart manufacturing systems will be able to produce advanced industrial outputs as AI will be in their support. Second, energy systems will be working with next-gen technologies, for instance, smart grids, energy storage, and automation platforms.
