Artificial intelligence (AI) coding assistants are starting to redraw job lines within tech teams. The shift matters because it can change how products move from idea to prototype. Zevi Arnovitz, a Product Manager (PM) at Meta, said “vibe coding” tools now let him build and test features without an engineering background.

AI Vibe Coding Tools Pull Product Managers into Hands-On Building

Arnovitz described AI coding as giving him “superpowers” during a recent episode of Lenny’s Podcast. He said the tools helped him move beyond coordination into direct building.

Arnovitz joined Meta in September after working for several years at the website builder, Wix. He said he discovered AI coding tools in mid-2024 and then rebuilt his workflow around them.

He uses vibe coding tools such as Cursor alongside AI models from Anthropic and Google. Arnovitz explained how the tools support ideation, planning, writing code, reviewing code, and updating documentation.

Product Management Shifts Toward Product Ownership and Execution

Arnovitz said AI is shifting the PM role closer to product ownership with stronger execution capabilities. In his view, PMs can now prototype smaller user interface (UI) features and hand-code them to engineers for final review.

However, he also drew limits for non-technical PMs. Arnovitz said complex infrastructure work should remain with engineers, and he said PMs should not ship large, high-risk projects.

He also predicted that job titles and responsibilities may collapse as tools improve. Arnovitz urged PMs to treat vibe coding as a collaborative learning opportunity with engineering teams.

Tech Leaders Cite Blurred Roles at Figma and LinkedIn

Industry leaders have echoed the same direction. Figma Chief Executive Officer Dylan Field said AI tools encourage designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers to experiment outside traditional domains.

Field said tasks that once required deep engineering expertise now look more accessible with vibe coding tools. He added that teams may act more like cross-functional product builders, while people still specialize.

Meanwhile, companies are also adjusting how they train early-career hires. LinkedIn replaced its associate product manager program with an associate product builder track in January.

In an episode of Lenny’s Podcast published in December, LinkedIn’s former Chief Product Officer, Tomer Cohen, said the company plans to teach coding, design, and product management together. Cohen later left LinkedIn in January and now works as an advisor, according to his LinkedIn profile.

AI coding assistants, product builder roles, and cross-functional product development now sit closer together in practice. The accounts from Arnovitz, Field, and Cohen suggest that companies will keep testing broader ‘builder’ expectations, while engineers continue to own core infrastructure work.
