

Meta Platforms has reportedly signed agreements to secure artificial intelligence computing capacity from data center developer Crusoe. The contracts cover facilities in Childress, Texas, and Warrenton, Missouri.
The two sites will provide Meta with approximately ‘1.6 gigawatts’ of combined capacity, according to people familiar with the agreements. Neither company has publicly confirmed the contract terms.
The reported agreements allow Meta to use computing infrastructure built and operated by Crusoe. Meta will receive capacity from one data center in Texas and another in Missouri. The company can use this infrastructure to train AI models and run AI services across its platforms.
The total contracted capacity stands at about 1.6 gigawatts. For comparison, one gigawatt can supply electricity to as many as 750,000 US homes at a given time. The figure shows the amount of power required to operate large groups of servers used for modern AI systems.
Meanwhile, financial and delivery details have not been disclosed. The report said it was ‘not immediately clear’ how much Meta would pay or when Crusoe would deliver the capacity. Meta and Crusoe did not provide comments when contacted about the reported agreements.
Crusoe started operations in 2018 and develops large data centers for AI computing. The company builds facilities, manages power supplies and provides cloud computing services. Its customers use this infrastructure to train models and handle other data-heavy tasks.
Earlier in June, Crusoe said it had contracted 4.9 gigawatts of AI infrastructure capacity. That total covers its data center projects and its Crusoe Cloud business. The company also reported a development pipeline exceeding 40 gigawatts, including contracted sites, projects under discussion and facilities in advanced planning.
Additionally, Crusoe has worked on campuses serving several large technology and cloud companies. Its projects include a 1.2-gigawatt campus in Abilene, Texas. The company has also started work on another large campus in the same region.
The reported Meta contracts would add another major customer to Crusoe’s portfolio. Still, neither company has confirmed whether the 1.6 gigawatts form part of the 4.9 gigawatts that Crusoe previously announced.
Meta has increased its infrastructure spending as it develops AI models, assistants and automated services. These systems require large numbers of advanced processors, high-speed network connections and steady electricity supplies. Securing outside computing capacity allows Meta to add resources without operating every data center directly.
The company is also developing a nearly 4,000-acre data center campus in Louisiana. That project is expected to provide up to five gigawatts of capacity when fully developed. Meta has contracted with other infrastructure and energy providers as part of the wider expansion.
Moreover, Meta has pledged to invest more than $600 billion in US infrastructure and jobs by 2028. The plan includes AI data centers, energy projects and workforce programs linked to the construction and operation of those facilities.
Meta owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The company has also expanded its AI products, including assistants and tools designed to complete tasks for users. The reported Crusoe agreements would provide additional computing resources for those services, although the companies have not disclosed which products or models will use the capacity.
