Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone is back in the spotlight after a newly surfaced screen protector leak offered possible clues about the device's front design. The phone, widely expected to be called the iPhone Ultra, is reportedly being developed as Apple's first foldable smartphone and could arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series in September 2026. However, Apple has not confirmed the device, its name or its specifications.

The leaked accessory attracted attention as manufacturers prepare screen protectors using preliminary dimensions, dummy units or design files. Its shape appears to provide another indication of how Apple's foldable could be designed, although an accessory leak alone cannot establish the final retail specifications.

What the Screen Protector Leak Reveals

Current reports suggest that Apple is working on a book-style foldable design. The phone could feature an outer display measuring around 5.5 inches, while opening the device may reveal a much larger 7.7- to 7.8-inch internal screen

The inner display is expected to have an approximately 4:3 aspect ratio, giving it proportions closer to a compact tablet than a traditional smartphone. The leaked protector also appears to support reports of a front-facing camera cutout, with earlier leaks pointing towards a single punch-hole arrangement.

Tipster Ice Universe cautioned that the protector may cover the entire glass panel rather than precisely matching the active display area. This means the unusual appearance of the leaked accessory should not automatically be interpreted as the final shape of the screen.

Expected iPhone Ultra Specifications

Note: All specifications remain unconfirmed and are based on leaks and reports.

Apple may also launch the phone in a limited selection of colours. White or silver and an indigo-like shade have been mentioned in recent reports, while the starting price could exceed $2,000, with some estimates placing the Indian price around Rs. 2 lakh. Apple has yet to confirm either figure.

A Major Change for the iPhone Lineup

If the reported September launch takes place, the iPhone Ultra would represent one of the biggest design changes in Apple's smartphone portfolio in years. The combination of a conventional cover screen and a much larger internal display would allow the device to work as both a smartphone and a compact tablet.

For now, the leaked screen protector should be treated as another piece of evidence surrounding Apple's foldable iPhone plans, rather than proof of the final product.
