The Hitman franchise is one of the highly praised stealth gaming franchises by the Danish developer IO Interactive. Starting from 2000, each game of this franchise has captivated a decent amount of gamers. It looks like IO Interactive has more new plans for this gaming franchise, especially with the World of Assassination series.

The World of Assassination series combines Hitman 1, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3. Starting in 2016 with Hitman 1, it ended in 2021 after Hitman 3 was released. Later in 2023, IOI combined these three games into one, Hitman: World of Assassination. Latest updates have shown IOI’s post-launch care hasn’t ended; new co-op modes and fresh content are in the pipeline.

Hitman: World of Assassination—A Bold Co-op Direction

Since the collection series was released in 2023, the developer team has continuously provided players with fresh content like Elusive Targets, Escalation Contracts, and seasonal events to keep the thrill of the game. This practice will be the same for the next few years.

The Summer Game Fest is on, and game developers, designers, and directors have been providing their insight regarding the future plans of the beloved games. In a recent interview, IOI Senior Level Designer Martin Ansdal has confirmed the studio has no intent to abandon World of Assassination sooner. He mentioned, “I don't have any plans to downscale my ambitions.” Despite revealing nothing about the future content of the game, it has provided fans with hope.

Currently, the game has been going from the latest James Bond crossover, where players can assassinate Mads Mikkelsen's Le Chiffre. Now, it’s confirmed that it’s not the only celebrity event. More will come in the future.

Hitman: World of Assassination—Ongoing Support and Broader Updates

IO Interactive has already confirmed that the upcoming update for Hitman: World of Assassination will expand the co-op section of the game. The announcement trailer showed glimpses of Andrea ‘Knight’ Morgan and Derrick ‘Stone’ Powell, two ICA snipers who were playable in Hitman 2. This co-op mode is still in its early development stage. The release details are still unknown, but it promises to bring content different from other updates.

In between the co-op mode and the celebrity cameos, the game will keep receiving additional content to make the gameplay experience fresh for gamers. Therefore, the game will keep receiving new missions and limited-time events to stay relevant without any new installment released in the meantime.

Conclusion

IO Interactive is careful about its biggest franchise. The latest announcement has positioned Hitman: World of Assassination to start a compelling new chapter soon. The introduction of the co-op mode will mark a significant evolution where players can join forces with others to face challenges. They can make strategies and execute them together to enjoy this stealth game more than ever. It will expectedly enhance the stealth intensity of the series.

As IO Interactive has teased the upcoming content update and co-op mode, the global assassin community now has every reason to stay locked in to Hitman: World of Assassination.
