GTA 6 official release date is finally here. The hype regarding GTA 6’s launch date has reached its peak since Rockstar Games announced its Fall 2025 release. However, the rumor of the game getting delayed has been in the air for a while already. Finally, Rockstar Games has sealed it with an official announcement.
In a message posted on Rockstar Games’ official website the developer has confirmed that GTA 6 is further getting some postponement and the official release date of the game is scheduled to be May 26, 2026. After loads of speculations this official statement has disheartened the entire community.
In the official post, as the reason for this postponement, Rockstar revealed, “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
Since the first trailer of the game was revealed, Rockstar was silent the entire time. Again when they appeared, the news just broke the hearts of fans. This delay, though disappointing, isn’t something very shocking. That's a common thing that often GTA titles face.
GTA fans are accustomed to this postponement of the titles, but this delay may financially affect Take-Two Interactive this year as GTA 6 was expected to become the company's biggest revenue driver.
However, the delay is still worth it if the game is polished and meets the hype it has created. It’s always better to get a game fully polished than one with loads of bugs and errors. As the waiting time is getting stretched, Rockstar is reassuring players that the wait will be worth it.
