Resident Evil Requiem has officially launched. The game's global welcome is pretty heart-warming. Players have been praising the gameplay for its atmosphere, storytelling, and flexible perspective system.

However, hardcore Resident Evil fans have noticed a missing feature: Requiem has no Field of View slider.

Players on both PC and consoles can’t manually adjust the width of their on-screen view. This has soon become one of the major discussion points within the community.

Many players feel that an FOV slider is now a standard feature in AAA titles. Its absence in Requiem has surprised fans, especially those who prefer a wider view for comfort or accessibility.

Resident Evil Requiem Sees Global Acceptance but Misses FOV Adjustment Option

The global response to the latest Resident Evil entry is positive. Critics and players appreciate the game’s horror design and polished presentation of characters. The ability to switch between first- and third-person perspectives is also highly praised.

Still, some issues remain, and that’s the FOV slider adjustment. This one issue stands out, given the game's many extremely well-made features. Some players have opined that the default FOV feels too tight for exploration and boss battles.

Others have argued that a narrow screen view increases tension, which correctly fits a survival horror game’s tone. Still, unanimously, everyone agreed that the feature should be there for those who prefer a wider view.

Capcom has not stated anything about the feature to come with any future update. If the demand increases, the developer team might respond accordingly.

How to Change Camera Angle in the Game

While players can’t change their FOV, they can control the camera angle. Gamers can adjust the camera based on their preferences and the in-game scene. Follow the steps below for changing the camera angle:

  • Launch the game

  • Go to Settings

  • Navigate to Camera

  • Choose between First-Person and Third-Person view.

First-person mode of the game delivers a more engaging experience. The third-person playthrough mode also provides better situational awareness and may feel more comfortable in some scenarios.

The game even has a Camera Wobble option. This feature can help users minimize the screen shake to make the gameplay smoother.

Is the FOV Backlash a Long-Term Concern for Capcom?

The initial reactions often determine the destiny of a game. The initial reaction from fans suggests disappointment, but that’s not a complete overview of the game. Most players agree that the core horror experience remains the same, or it’s stronger than previous installments. However, the missing slider hit their expectations, which caused disappointment.

If Capcom responds to feedback, the issue may fade quickly. Considering its strong launch momentum, Resident Evil Requiem still has the potential to match or even surpass previous entries in popularity. For now, the missing FOV slider remains one of the most talked-about aspects of its release.
