Resident Evil Requiem is officially coming to PC and consoles on 27 February 2026. Capcom has confirmed preload availability and detailed hardware enhancements across platforms. The ninth mainline entry of the franchise is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
The global rollout time is almost the same for most regions. The hype around the game is now high due to its strong performance record.
Resident Evil is one of Capcom’s long-running series, with each installment expanding the player base. Though the release date is same across the world, time differences across zones cause differences in time, which is given below:
United States (EST): 12:00 AM, February 27
United States (PST): 9:00 PM, February 26
United Kingdom (GMT): 5:00 AM, February 27
India (IST): 10:30 AM, February 27
Japan (JST): 2:00 PM, February 27
Australia (AEDT): 4:00 PM, February 27
New Zealand (NZDT): 6:00 PM, February 27
Preloads of the game are already live in several regions. Download size for the preload file varies across platforms. While PC players need around 70GB of free space, the PS5 version requires slightly more at 73GB. Xbox players need 69GB, and the Nintendo Switch 2 would need only 29GB.
Players expect the new season to match the legacy of the previous instalments. The past two entries, including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, earned praise for their tension, limited resources, and elements of psychological horror.
Requiem is reportedly combining classic survival elements with modern action mechanics. The previews revealed the return of darker environments that have become the game’s signature. Capcom is also offering environmental storytelling and reactive enemy behavior.
The balance of action and horror is a fine one. Focusing more on combat could reduce the fear element in the earlier chapters.

The hype around Resident Evil Requiem is massive. The franchise’s milestone timing adds an emotional element, with fans expecting a memorable experience. The preloads and countdowns show a strong expectation pressure on Capcom.
Immense expectations often result in disappointment. A weaker horror atmosphere or storytelling that does not match the previous installments could lead to a backlash. Whether Requiem becomes a defining chapter or a divisive one can be said with certainty only after the launch.
