Facebook is back in the job market following its hiatus on the Jobs feature, and this time with a community-first strategy. Meta is now rolling out Local Job Listings nationwide in the United States, allowing users to find and apply for entry-level, trade, and service jobs directly within the app.
The development represents Meta’s latest push to challenge professional networks like LinkedIn, but with a distinctly local twist. For the tech giant, the purpose is to make job searching and hiring less expensive for small businesses and individuals alike.
New job postings are being added to Facebook Marketplace, Groups, and Pages, providing users with several options to consider opportunities. The postings will help individuals search for, apply to, and communicate with potential employers directly within Facebook.
“Facebook can assist you in getting connected with local individuals and small companies that are hiring,” Meta stated in an official announcement, adding that all postings are public and visible to users 18 years and older.
For applicants, finding the feature is easy:
Launch the Facebook app or website.
Visit the Marketplace tab and tap Jobs.
Filter through results by job category, type, or distance.
Apply directly or message employers through Messenger to inquire.
This streamlined, chat-supported process adds a social twist to job searching, enabling instant communication between applicants and recruiters.
The owners of small businesses can similarly advertise job postings by offering information such as compensation, working hours, and qualifications using Marketplace, Pages, or Meta Business Suite. These are shown automatically in local search, making it easy for employers to target local candidates.

As of today, Local Jobs are live across the United States. Meta has suggested that the expansion may come shortly to other areas, indicating a broader effort to restore its position in internet hiring.
Through this update, Facebook appears well on its way to redefining the recruitment process. However, this will not be a corporate transaction, but a community-driven, neighborhood-level connection embedded in the world’s largest social network.
