Electronic Arts (EA) has reportedly carried out another round of layoffs, affecting employees in Hyderabad and workers in remote roles across the United States, adding to a growing list of workforce reductions in the gaming industry.

According to reports, the latest layoffs have affected employees in customer service, recruitment, IT, and Trust & Safety. Although no details on the exact number of employees laid off by the company are known, several laid-off employees have posted about their layoffs on professional networking sites.

Hyderabad Employees Among Those Affected

These layoffs have included employees at EA’s Hyderabad office, one of its important centers of operation. It has been noted that some of the laid-off employees had worked for the company for more than 10 years.

It has been reported in an internal company email that these changes were due to the company’s efforts to align with players’ changing requirements. The internal email said that some jobs would be restructured, some would be added, and some tasks would be delegated to other departments or companies.

Latest in Series of Workforce Reductions

This latest move follows a general trend of layoffs in EA for the last few years. In fact, there have been numerous team restructurings across various studios and departments as the company has become more focused on its flagship titles and development programs. This year, for instance, EA supposedly laid off some workers from the Battlefield team after layoffs across other teams.

However, what makes the latest move particularly relevant is that the global video games industry is currently experiencing job cuts. It has been reported that thousands of gaming jobs have been cut worldwide in 2026 due to rising costs and shifts in customer preferences and priorities.

EA has not officially released the figure on how many jobs will be cut in this last batch. However, this demonstrates the ongoing insecurity experienced by employees in the industry amid the changes being made by large publishers.
