The Browser Company has launched Dia, a new web browser powered by artificial intelligence. Dia Browser allows users to interact directly with an AI assistant inside the address bar. It takes away the need to visit separate AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude. It automatically detects user intent and responds with navigation, search, or AI results.

Smart Address Bar and Built-In Assistance

Dia’s address bar serves as a navigation tool, search engine, and AI chatbot. Users can type questions, visit websites, or issue commands in the same space. It also summarizes web pages, generates content, and pulls information from open tabs. This makes multitasking faster and more intuitive for everyday users.

Features Like History and Skills Add Power

The browser includes a History feature that allows AI to reference seven days of browsing activity. This gives the assistant context for personalized and accurate replies.

Another tool called Skills lets users build shortcuts using small code snippets. These shortcuts can automate layouts or recurring browser tasks. Both features help users customize their experience and save time.

The Shift from Arc to Dia

Dia replaces Arc, the company’s earlier browser. Arc had passionate users but failed to attract the mass market. Many found its learning curve steep and confusing. CEO Josh Miller acknowledged the shift in user needs. Miller said most people now rely on AI to handle writing, researching, and organizing work. That insight led the team to build a browser focused entirely on AI.

Chromium Engine Keeps It Familiar

Dia is built on Google’s open-source Chromium project. This gives it the same underlying engine as Chrome. Users won’t face compatibility issues or need to learn new controls. Existing features remain, but advanced AI tools are built into the core. Other browsers, such as Opera and Chrome, offer AI capabilities through plug-ins. Dia makes AI the default, not an add-on.

Availability and Access for Users

The beta version of Dia Browser is now available to existing Arc users. These users can also invite others to try it. New users can join the waiting list through The Browser Company’s website. The company is gradually rolling out access while collecting feedback. A broader public release is expected soon.

A New Way to Experience the Web

Dia brings artificial intelligence into every step of the browsing process. The browser helps users focus, automate tasks, and complete work more efficiently. AI is no longer an optional tool; it has become a necessity. It is now a core feature built into how the web is used. This new approach may redefine what people expect from their browsers.
