Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s pre-launch hype was massive. Notably, the game’s success exceeded players’ expectations. The French JRPG broke records with sales of 3.3 million copies in its first 33 days. That’s an official statement from Sandfall Interactive. Moreover, this game stands at a 9.7 score on Metacritic based on player reviews. That’s the highest score that any game has ever received.
After immense financial and commercial success, this French JRPG ensured players it’s not the end. Instead, it’s just the beginning. Sandfall Interactive keeps polishing the game, and the June update prominently highlights this part.
The first update for Expedition 33 is now live. Sandfall Interactive has rolled out Version 1.3.0 across all platforms, adding fresh content and gameplay refinements. The most highlighted addition is the Simon rematch. Players who have defeated this formidable enemy previously can challenge him once again. This addition will enhance the replayability of the game, offering players another chance to test their skills against this brutal boss.
The next notable change this update has introduced includes balancing the Story Mode. The update increases the dodge and parry windows by 40%. At the same time, incoming damage is reduced by 10% and 50%. This makes the game more accessible without compromising on the dark, grim tone.
To take the gothic chaos to a new level, this update brings new challenge modifiers. Players can unlock them from Act III onward. With this latest update, players can limit their max damage cap to 99,999 or 999,999. Similarly, they can multiply enemy HP by x2, x5, x10, x20, x50, or even x100.
