A total of 100 UK companies have signed up for a permanent four-day work week policy with no loss of wage payments to their employees in order to improve Britain's approach to work. Employees think it's fair to start this policy as soon as possible and omit the archaic style.
According to The Guardian, these 100 enterprises with 2,600 employees hope to spearhead a dramatic transformation in Britain's approach to work week policy since the group feels that the five-day work week is a relic of a bygone era. They also claimed that the four-day work week policy would increase their productivity, allowing them to do the same amount of work in fewer hours. Atom Bank and Awin are the two largest corporations that have signed up for the four-day work week initiative. UK companies sign four-day work week policy with the same pay to change their firm's working style.
Earlier this year, a total of 70 UK enterprises performed a trial run of a four-day work week with no pay drop. For six months, hundreds of workers from a little fish and chip store to huge financial firms participated in the trial project.
The event was developed in collaboration with scholars from Cambridge University, Oxford University, and Boston College by the non-profit 4 Day Week Global, Autonomy, a think tank, and the 4 Day Week UK Campaign.
During the experiment, employees are paid in full for 80% of the hours they would normally work, to increase productivity.
In several nations, calls to reduce the work week have gained traction in recent years as a result of the epidemic. As thousands of employees shifted to remote work during Covid-19, reducing onerous travel time and expenses, requests for greater flexibility became stronger.
According to academics, previous experiments of a four-day week in Iceland were an "overwhelming success," leading to many workers migrating to fewer hours. Between 2015 and 2019, workers were paid the same amount for working fewer hours in trials.
