Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is one of the finest tactical shooter games by Ubisoft. Released in 2015, this game still maintains an average Metacritic score of 7, even after going through multiple ups and downs. Ubisoft has brought multiple changes to this game over the years, but the biggest one is on the way.

This French game developer company is determined to revolutionize the gameplay of this franchise with the upcoming "Siege X" update that’s scheduled for March 13, 2025. This game is going toward its 10th anniversary this December, and this update will be a milestone with loads of new features making their way to the game.

Rainbow Six Siege: A Decade of Evolution

Since this game appeared in December 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has gone through evolutions continuously to introduce new characters, maps, and gameplay mechanics. These are the regular updates that games generally go through, but the Siege X update, as promised by the developers, is going to be the highest transformation of a game that gamers have ever noticed.

The Siege X: Graphical and Audio Enhancements

One of the most exciting parts that this upcoming update is about to bring to the game is the improved graphics. Whether it’s a tactical shooter or any other game, visuals play a key role in delivering the essence of the game. Rainbow Six Siege never had bad graphics, but the upcoming update is taking it further with high-definition textures, realistic lighting, and advanced visual effects. Now, only improving the visuals won’t work if the audio mechanism of the game doesn’t work properly. Considering this part, Ubisoft has reworked the audio of the game, and the Siege X update will bring a more immersive and realistic sound system.

Introducing New Operator

It’s been almost ten years, and after all these years, Ubisoft has announced that this update will begin with the first season, named Operation Prep Phase, that will introduce a new operator from New Zealand, named Rauora. Rauora is equipped with the Deployable Omnilink Mesh (DOM) Launcher. This is a launcher that deploys bulletproof panels in doorways, altering sightlines and movement paths.

These panels can be opened by both attackers and defenders. However, attackers will be at an advantage with their faster operation which will allow them to lock defenders out for some time.

Aside from that, Ruora will bring a 417 marksman rifle or M249 LMG as her primary weapon. Aside from that, the Reaper MK2 or the GSH-18 pistol will be the secondary weapon of this character.

Enhanced Tactical Gameplay in Siege X

The Siege X update will impact the tactical gameplay by introducing new mechanics. Additionally, it will improve the existing ones as well. For instance, the DOM panels that the upcoming update is about to bring won’t only be used for covers, but they will also influence the team's strategies during the match. This addition of DOM will make the gameplay more strategic and dynamic for every team, for its bulletproof nature.

New Game Modes and Events

The Rainbow Six Siege community has been asking for new game modes for a long time, and in response to their demand, Ubisoft has promised to introduce new game modes and limited-time events to make the gameplay fresh. Removing all the previous events, Ubisoft is reportedly on its way to delivering more engaging and thrilling in-game experiences to gamers. However, the game modes or events coming to the game aren't yet sure.

To conclude, despite the company going through a challenging situation, Ubisoft’s dedication to its player base is commendable. It is trying to bring new content to the existing popular titles so the player base doesn’t go down. Once the grand reveal of this upcoming update happens, it will be clear whether this hard work paid off or not.
