Another glorious year awaits PlayStation 5 players. 2025 is only a few weeks old, and a list of captivating games is already waiting for PS5 players, including S-GAME’s Phantom Blade Zero, an exclusive PS console game.

Set in a dark, Wuxia-themed world, this game’s fast-paced and third-person combat style has captured the attention of players since it was first shown at the Summer Game Fest. A second official trailer showing more engaging gameplay features has taken the hype to a new level.

Phantom Blade Zero Second Trailer Teases the Release Date

For the first time, players received a glimpse of Phantom Blade Zero at PlayStation’s State of Play event 2023. The moment this game was unveiled, it drew comparisons to one of FromSoftware’s all-time hit games, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, for its similar theme. In Phantom Blade Zero, players will take on the role of a soul who’s been framed for murdering his own master.

These were all clearly shown in the first trailer. However, the second trailer highlighted several exciting features, including a hint for the game’s official release date. Initially, Phantom Blade Zero was predicted to be launched sometime in 2026, but the recent trailer confirmed the game will come this year. Anyway, S-GAME has carefully avoided hinting at any specific date.

Because there’s no date, there is still a possibility that this game will be postponed to 2026. Aside from that, this new trailer has showcased one enthralling gameplay feature that has stirred curiosity further.

Phantom Blade Zero Bringing New Boss Fights

The six-minute trailer is a complete gameplay of a boss fight sequence divided into two phases. The first phase of the gameplay is not a traditional 1v1 boss fight, but it shows how the protagonist competes against the Chief Disciple of the Seven Stars, a multi-character boss.

The boss fight sequence highlights seven extremely well-coordinated enemies called The Seven Judges. The six of them follow the formation made by Decree, who sits at the center of it. The main point is to take down Decree, but even if players lower his health, it won’t work, as the other six will sacrifice themselves to revive him.

In the second phase, things become more exciting as Decree falls to end the first phase, and his disciples will form a cobweb formation to lift him and revive him with corrupted energy to begin the second phase.

Snake-Swords are Taking the Center Stage

The trailer is titled “Year of the Snake.” So, the introduction of snake-shaped weapons makes sense. The trailer has revealed multiple snake-swords, including Soft Snake Sword, a flexible blade, along with two dual swords called White Python and Red Viper.

In action RPGs, weapons play the most essential part, and that’s why the showcase of these blades excited gamers about the gameplay. As the gameplay reveals, White Python and Red Viper can be combined to launch chain attacks with an enhanced speed in fast-paced combat.

Cinematic Graphics Blended with Fluent Martial Arts Moves

Throughout the entire boss fight sequence in Phantom Blade Zero, one thing that is hardly skip attention is how fluid the gameplay looks. Its cinematic sequences are well-blended with the martial arts moves to create a soothing gameplay sequence. The acrobatics, precision of moves, and intensity of the fight are combined with high-end graphics to create impressive gameplay.

Introduction of New Phantom Edges

Another feature from the trailer that has attracted the attention of gamers is the introduction of new Phantom Edges. The gameplay trailer has revealed Savage Axe and Ink Cut, which deliver some deadly blows to enemies. While Savage Axe delivers three powerful combos once fully charged, Ink Cut is an artifact with chainable attacks seamlessly integrating into the protagonist’s primary weapon.

The official release of Phantom Blade Zero has not yet been revealed, so when players get their hands on it isn’t yet certain. However, this second trailer has made this wait worth it by revealing these fascinating gameplay features.
