Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is consistently surprising the gaming world. First, its release at Xbox Developer Direct 2025 was the biggest surprise that the fans of this franchise got. While Xbox gamers were expecting some major announcement at the event, they probably never thought of two Ninja Gaiden games being announced simultaneously, and one of them being launched just after the event.

The community hasn’t yet gotten over this shock, and again, Team Ninja came up with an update for this remastered version, clearing out its agenda of improving the gameplay experience by implementing changes.

When Did the Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Patch Note Arrive?

It's been more than a decade since the last main entry was released in this action-adventure franchise. In the meantime, the gaming world has gone through massive changes. Therefore, bringing a new entry suddenly may cause a disaster. So, Team Ninja’s strategy of releasing Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remastered version of the OG title, to renew fans’ interest and attract young gamers to the franchise, is completely understandable.

Anyway, fans didn’t expect this remastered title to receive such post-launch support from the team. Because it’s still new, the developer taking player feedback is expected. Surprisingly, it’s not even a week, and the team has already launched the first patch note, version 1.002, on January 29, fixing some of the major complaints from gamers.

What is the Patch Note Fixed in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black?

Though Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden 4 were announced together, the hype is unexpectedly centered around Ninja Gaiden 2 Black instead of Ninja Gaiden 4. The remastered version created the most excitement. Gamers have jumped into the game to experience the OG title in a new way with improved graphics and modern elements.

However, the problem began when players started complaining about a few things. The current update is a small one that only addresses two major issues. The version 1.002 patch first addressed the DLSS and XeSS issues.

Since the game was launched, players have been reporting that options for DLSS and XeSS weren’t available when selecting Super Resolution on the Microsoft Store version of the game. With this latest update, this is fixed.

Another issue that this patch note addressed was the boss fight issue. The game has multiple boss fights, but some players reported that the game didn’t let them progress through the story after beating some specific enemies. With this update installed, players won’t face this problem anymore.

More Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Updates Are on The Way

This update is incredibly small. Therefore, it only addresses those issues that require immediate solutions. Anyway, that doesn’t mean there are no other problems in the game. If one eliminates these two resolved issues, there’s still one large problem remaining, and that’s the game size.

The original 2008 Ninja Gaiden 2 was 7 GB, and the last one, named Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, was 14 GB, despite including all the Sigma versions of the first three games. But the recently released remaster game is currently standing at approximately 86 GB. This is a big headache for loads of gamers.

Looking at its current actions, it is clear that Team Ninja cares for player feedback and implements it to improve the gameplay experience. Therefore, the February update that is reportedly released sometime in February to address more issues will probably fix the file size.

Currently, the team is busy with Ninja Gaiden 4, scheduled for Fall 2025. Reports say this game is complete, but the polishing process is going on to make it a grand experience for gamers. The exact release date of this upcoming installment is yet to be announced.
