Delaware, US – 15th September 2025 – Gonka, a decentralized network for high-efficiency AI compute, has officially launched, offering builders, researchers, and enterprises an open alternative to traditional cloud infrastructure.
Unlike centralized providers that restrict access to compute via APIs and corporate pipelines, Gonka allows anyone with hardware—from a lone GPU to a full-scale data center—to contribute power toward productive AI workloads in model training, inference, and scientific simulations.
In traditional Proof-of-Stake networks, more than 90% of GPU cycles are spent on consensus tasks that yield no value outside of the blockchain. Gonka wear this model on its head: almost 100% of that power goes toward efficacious AI workloads. Certainly a more efficient model for compute resources, Gonka also allows compute power to be traded toward productive ends--either advancing AI in social good, simulations of complex science, or use cases in model training and inference.
To facilitate ease of adoption, Gonka is offering a 180-epoch (six months) Grace Period in which inference will be free. To streamline the testing phase, we will automatically distribute a fixed amount of GNK, the network's native token, daily among participating hosts, and this issuance will decrement over time to build scarcity and reward early adopters accordingly.
