India hosts the biggest edition of the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, bringing together world leaders, tech CEOs, policymakers, researchers and startup founders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, which positions India at the centre of global conversations on inclusive, human-centric and sovereign AI. This is the first time the AI Impact Summit is being held in the Global South after previous editions in Paris, Seoul and Bletchley Park. The government expects over 2.5 lakh visitors, with participation from 20 heads of state and 45 ministerial delegations. The Expo spans 10 arenas across 70,000+ square metres and features 13 country pavilions.
Kyndryl CEO Martin Schroeter said AI is reshaping enterprises and must centre on human–agent collaboration for inclusive innovation. The IT minister said multinational platforms such as Netflix and Meta must operate within India’s legal framework and respect its cultural context. Calling artificial intelligence the fifth industrial revolution, Vaishnaw highlighted its transformative impact across sectors, from manufacturing to governance. He said India is preparing for this shift through infrastructure, innovation and talent development, positioning the country to harness AI-led productivity gains and long-term economic growth.
Vaishnaw underscored the need for sovereign AI, saying India cannot depend on external systems for strategic technologies. He called for domestic capability in compute, models and data to ensure security, resilience and policy autonomy, framing self-reliance as central to India’s long-term artificial intelligence roadmap.
Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu said purpose-built, small AI models can help teachers address foundational literacy and numeracy gaps and personalise learning, especially for rural students. He added that project-based education and hands-on innovation, supported by AI tools, can significantly enhance learning outcomes and act as a powerful classroom multiplier.
The Chief of Staff of the City of Buenos Aires called for greater investment from Indian companies, highlighting opportunities in technology, innovation and urban development. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the world is entering a messy and uncertain transition but India’s reform momentum will continue. Policymakers and tech experts call for human-centric AI, stronger international collaboration, and new innovation hubs, as India positions itself as a key voice in global technology governance.
Congress criticised the event after a Chinese-made robot was presented as indigenous, forcing an apology and stall shutdown, while the government promised zero tolerance for misinformation.
Google announced new subsea connectivity projects and Nvidia revealed partnerships with computing firms, as global technology companies used the summit to back India’s AI growth and deepen market collaboration.
At the Pax Silica signing, Ashwini Vaishnaw said India’s engineers are working on advanced 2-nm chip design, students now access top design tools, and the growing semiconductor ecosystem will create large talent demand and global leadership opportunities.
The expo will remain open an extra day to ease security access and allow more students and professionals to attend after multilateral events conclude, IT Secretary S. Krishnan said.

Security was heightened inside Bharat Mandapam after a group claiming to be Youth Congress members staged a protest at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 venue, prompting swift action by authorities.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused the Congress of attempting to tarnish India’s global image, saying the Youth Congress protest at Bharat Mandapam disrupted a major international event showcasing the country’s technological leadership.
BJP spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam said the Youth Congress protest reflects the party’s politics of defaming India, alleging it seeks to derail global recognition and the country’s technological progress showcased at the AI Impact Summit.

BJP MP Sambit Patra strongly criticised the Youth Congress demonstration, calling it an attempt to disrupt a global event and asserting the AI Impact Summit represents India and the world, not any single political party.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticised the Youth Congress demonstration, calling it condemnable and alleging it reflected an anti-India mindset that undermined national recognition during the global AI Impact Summit.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 drew over five lakh visitors and featured participation from every major global AI player. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted USD 250 billion in infrastructure pledges and USD 20 billion in VC investments, stressing global confidence in India’s AI leadership.
On the final day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi Police has imposed traffic curbs from 9 am to 8 pm. Key roads including Bhairon Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, Purana Qila Road and Mathura Road may face congestion and diversions.
At the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, BJP president Nitin Nabin accused Congress of shaming the nation after Youth Congress members staged a brief protest inside the venue. Around 10 protesters were detained, while Nabin called the act anti-national and anarchic.

Using real-time AI and machine learning, it detects risky driving behaviors like distraction and overspeeding, issuing instant alerts to improve safety and prevent fatalities.
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh signed seven agreements in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Partnerships with IBM, IIT Madras and others aim to strengthen higher education, advanced skilling and school transformation across the state.
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Jeetu Patel said fears of AI making humans redundant are exaggerated. He stressed that AI will enhance human value by combining human instinct and judgement with machine-scale automation, creating stronger outcomes rather than replacing people.
At the India AI Summit Expo 2026, a new Policy Report and Developers' Toolkit on voice technologies was launched to promote inclusive and responsible speech-based applications. Developed by ARTPARK @IISc, Digital Futures Lab, and Trilegal, with support from Bhashini and GIZ, it aims to expand digital access across India.
Vaishnaw declared the summit a “grand success,” noting over $250 billion+ in infrastructure pledges and more than 500,000 visitors. He said nearly every major AI player was present, and investment commitments continue to grow, reflecting strong confidence in India’s role in AI.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the AI Impact Summit drew participation from most major AI nations. Over 70 countries have signed the draft Delhi Declaration on cooperative AI development, expected to exceed 80 signatories, underscoring strong global engagement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit, describing AI as a historic turning point in human civilisation.
