Overview:

  • OnePlus 15R leads on processing power, display refresh rate, and battery capacity, while Xiaomi 17T counters with a 5x optical telephoto camera and higher screen brightness.

  • Current listings put the OnePlus 15R around Rs. 54,999 to Rs. 59,999 and the Xiaomi 17T at Rs. 64,999, with a real price gap between the two rather than a shared bracket.

  • The two phones are built for different priorities: gaming and endurance on one side, and photography and display quality on the other

Xiaomi 17T and OnePlus 15R are not competing over feature counts. Their competency differs based on their focus areas. OnePlus has invested heavily in ensuring increased speed, screen refresh rates, and battery capacity. Xiaomi, on the other hand, has worked on improving camera reach, screen brightness, and designing a compact body.

Both brands provide flagship-level models on paper. However, the real gap shows up when you use them for gaming, zooming in during photography, or watching HDR video.

Price

Current listings on 91mobiles show the OnePlus 15R's 12GB+256GB model priced at Rs. 54,999, with the 12GB+512GB version at Rs. 59,999. The Xiaomi 17T's 12GB+256GB variant sits higher at Rs. 64,999.

Retailer offers and bank discounts move these numbers around fairly often, so checking the live price before purchase is worth the extra minute.

Performance

OnePlus fitted the 15R with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Xiaomi went with MediaTek's Dimensity 8500 Ultra for the 17T. Both chips handle everyday tasks without strain, but the gap widens under heavier load.

In benchmark tests reported by 91mobiles, the OnePlus 15R scored 9,363 on Geekbench multi-core against 6,860 for the Xiaomi 17T and led on AnTuTu too, roughly 2.95 million versus 2.13 million. That gap points to a real performance edge for gaming and multitasking, though sustained output still depends on cooling and software tuning, not benchmark numbers alone.

Display

The OnePlus 15R carries a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED panel at 165Hz, with support for a billion colors and HDR Vivid. Xiaomi's 17T runs a smaller 6.59-inch AMOLED screen at 120Hz but adds Dolby Vision and HDR10+, plus a claimed 3,500-nit peak brightness.

Xiaomi's higher claimed peak brightness and HDR format support give it a specification advantage for HDR playback and high-brightness conditions. Gamers will feel the OnePlus screen's smoother refresh instead.

Camera

Both phones use a 50MP main sensor and a 32MP front camera, so the difference lies in the second lens. Xiaomi added a 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom and a 115mm equivalent focal length, giving the 17T real reach for distant subjects.

OnePlus stuck with an 8MP ultrawide and skipped a telephoto lens entirely. For photography that involves distance, events, travel, or genuine zoom rather than a cropped one, the Xiaomi setup provides dedicated hardware for optical-zoom photography.

Battery and Charging

OnePlus built the 15R around endurance: a 7,400mAh battery paired with 80W SUPERVOOC charging and IP69K resistance. Xiaomi's 17T runs a smaller 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery at 67 W.

In PCMark battery testing, the OnePlus lasted 18 hours 13 minutes against 14 hours 45 minutes for the Xiaomi. The result comes from a controlled test and should not be treated as a direct prediction of everyday battery life.

Final Thoughts

Specification sheets rarely tell the full story on their own. Buyers might tell the difference once they use the phones in their everyday life. A gamer may appreciate the powerful Snapdragon processor and rapid screen response, while a photographer may value the capabilities of the zoom lens. Neither device is superior; the ideal choice simply depends on which specific features align with the user's priorities.
