Nothing's CMF Phone 2 Pro: Expected Feature and Launch Date

CMF Phone 2 Pro launching in India on April 28

Written By : Somatirtha

Mobile innovation is advancing at a rapid pace and Nothing’s CMF sub-brand is in the mid-range market with the eagerly awaited CMF Phone 2 Pro. This phone is expected to be launched in India on April 28 at 6:30 PM IST. The launch is also set to be a turning point for the firm, as it launches its very first ‘Pro’ smartphone bearing the CMF brand, alongside a new lineup of audio devices including CMF Buds 2, CMF Buds 2a, and CMF Buds 2 Plus.

The CMF sub-brand has established its reputation on a balance of minimalist aesthetic and affordability. With this future release, the brand is hinting at a further emphasis on performance, high-end build, and ecosystem growth without diverting from its affordable heritage.

Raising the Bar: What to Expect from CMF Phone 2 Pro

Built to compete within India’s value-oriented but fast-growing smartphone sector, the CMF Phone 2 Pro looks to be something more than just a superficial makeover of its predecessor. As per the early teasers and the numerous industry leaks, the new model will most probably pack an even bigger screen, more processing power, and a better camera module.

It is a six-point-seven-seven-inch AMOLED screen, coupled with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 CPU. Such a combination should indicate almost buttery-smooth scrolling and viewing experience. Storage and RAM capacities are said to be doubled, with support for up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Design Evolution: From Functional to Distinctive

Social media teaser shots demonstrate a change in design language. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is here sporting a blocky body with a marble-textured back and a distinctive screw detail that screams more modular, more utilitarian design. The branding on the rear is strong and in line with the brand’s tendency to make its devices easily recognisable at a glance.

What is remarkable in the design upgrade is the triple-camera module, a first for CMF phones. The setup is likely to include a 50MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a significant upgrade from the dual-camera on CMF Phone 1.

CMF Buds 2 Series to Broaden Audio Portfolio

In addition to the smartphone, the company will launch three new audio devices: CMF Buds 2, CMF Buds 2a, and CMF Buds 2 Plus. The initial CMF Buds were noticed for their fun colour options, particularly the iconic orange, paired with noise cancellation and an affordable price point. The next-gen earbuds are likely to carry forward the positives with better tuning for audiophiles, battery life, and refinements in their design.

Price and Availability

According to industry estimates, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is expected to be priced at less than ₹22,000, firmly placing it in the mid-range class, as the price has not yet been formally announced. For comparison, the CMF Phone 1 cost ₹14,999 when it was first released. Following the launch event, the new smartphone, like other CMF products, will be sold on Flipkart.

A Calculated Step Toward Mid-Premium Dominance

The release of the CMF Phone 2 Pro marks more than a mere product debut, it’s a strategic push to take a larger piece of the mid-range pie without losing sight of the brand’s mission of affordability-based innovation. By adding technological advancements such as a high-refresh AMOLED screen, powerful imaging capabilities, and a slim customisable design, CMF is not merely keeping up with expectations, it’s redefining them.

The crowded smartphone space continues to be ripe for a brand such as CMF, which also values clean aesthetics, fulfilling functionality, and community-centric branding, to resonate with a tech-savvy generation demanding performance but not necessarily at a high premium. April 28 will see all eyes on the CMF Phone 2 Pro in seeing how it might fulfil this promise.
