Motorola is pushing its premium phone game. The company, which recently launched the Edge 60 Fusion, now seems to be gearing up for the launch of the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro, two high-end devices that have surfaced on China's TENAA certification website. Not only does their listing confirm they are coming but also brings about major design changes, performance boost, and battery life improvements, indicating Motorola's aggressive plans for targeting the mid-premium category in 2025.

These new phones have been certified with model numbers XT2505-4 (Edge 60) and XT2507-5 (Edge 60 Pro). TENAA listings give a thorough insight into both handsets' specifications, from enhanced display technology and processing power to enhanced cameras and battery life, all implying Motorola is looking to deliver legitimate hardware credibility this time.

Familiar Design with Subtle Refinement

Leaked renders and even official certification photos suggest a sleek and high-end look. Both phones feature a squircle-shaped rear camera module that smoothly integrates into the rear shell. The four cutout homes a flashlight and retains the iconic Moto dimple at the back, a discreet nod at brand identity.

Curved edges and barely-there bezels create a flagship-like feel, but the design is distinctly, unapologetically Motorola.

Upgraded Hardware Under the Hood

The Edge 60 series will feature a 6.67-inch curved OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 10-bit colour depth, and an under-display fingerprint sensor, with rich visuals and high-end multimedia performance on offer.

On the processing power front, the Edge 60 Pro should feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset running at 3.35GHz to position it for the level of performance that flags, while the Edge 60 should use an unnamed 2.5GHz octa-core processor, which should appeal to the upper-midrange market.

Battery life is receiving a good boost. The standard model may have a 5,500mAh battery (rated at 5,335mAh) with 68W fast charging, while the Pro model may come with a 6,000mAh battery (rated at 5,820mAh) combined with 90W charging, which will bring quick top-ups for heavy users.

Camera Capabilities and Storage Options

The camera configurations are also undergoing drastic changes. The Edge 60 will probably feature a triple-camera setup with 50MP + 10MP + 50MP sensors, including a 3x telephoto lens, and a 50MP front camera for high-resolution selfies. The Edge 60 Pro is expected to come with a 50MP primary shooter, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 32MP front camera.

Both phones should be available with extensive configurations. The Edge 60 might be available in 6GB to 16GB RAM and 128GB to 1TB storage. Likewise, the Pro model might have 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM with the same internal storage capacities.

In terms of weight and dimensions, there are the following marginal variations: whereas the Edge 60, measuring 161.2 x 73.08 x 7.95mm, weighs 180.4g, the Pro model is slightly larger and taller at 171.3 x 73.99 x 7.25mm, weighing 188g.

Motorola Targeting Premium Battlefield

Motorola is making a strong mark in the mid to premium price sector, doing so with the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro. Brilliant screens, powerful chipsets, larger batteries, and flexible camera systems mean that the Lenovo owns the business-changing approach rather than just iterative ones.

If the TENAA listing is anything to go by, Motorola might be planning to offer performance and premium build at a competitive price. Since the Edge 50 Pro was released in India in April 2023, and the vanilla Edge 50 was introduced in August, the Edge 60 series' arrival is not far behind.

Motorola enthusiasts and Android users alike would do well to keep an eye on this one, the Edge 60 series could very well be Motorola's most comprehensive line yet.
