Apple has finally announced its much-awaited Siri upgrade, iOS 27 Developer Beta, at WWDC 2026 (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference). However, iPhone users may have to wait until fall to try out the new features announced at WWDC.
For now, one can try developer beta versions available for download and test the new Siri AI before it's officially released. Users can download the iOS 27 developer beta immediately, while some new Siri AI features may require joining a waitlist.
To get into the waitlist, follow these steps.

It’s advisable to back up the phone before installing the beta software. To get started with this:
Go to Settings
Select your name
Select icloud
Click on iCloud Backup
Tap on Back Up Now
Apple strongly recommends that installing any kind of betas on secondary devices, as pre-release software is known to drain battery and even cause app instability.
If you don’t have a secondary device, ensure that the backup is up to date. iOS 27 will be available for iPhone 11 and later models, though most advanced features will require Apple Intelligence, which is only available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 and later models.

Visit developer.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Paid developer membership is not required to access the beta version.
This is one of the easiest ways to get access to the beta resources, announcement updates and a direct link to the beta installation process. If you don’t have it, download it from the App Store.
Follow the steps in the Apple Developer app to enroll the iPhone in the beta program. After that, Open Settings, click General, and navigate to Software Update. You should see iOS 27 developer beta listed there.
Tap on Download and install. The download takes a couple of minutes.
To join the waitlist, follow these steps:
Open Settings
Navigate to the new Siri menu
Tap ‘Join Waitlist’
Follow the instructions until the pop-up says officially join the waitlist.
After enrolling, Apple will notify you when the new Siri AI features will be available.
Expect the new Siri AI to be a personal chat assistant that can hold conversations that will support the following features:
On-screen intelligence
Integration across apps
Summarize documents
Support chats across devices
Smart camera integration
Perform web searches
Users can also personalize their new Siri AI, controlling how it sounds, its pace and even the accent.
The free public beta is expected to arrive in mid-July and should be more nuanced than the developer version. The complete official new iOS 27 is expected to hit the devices around September, along with the new iPhone lineup.
