Altman Left OpenAI After Researchers Warned of AI Perils in a Letter
Several staff researchers addressed a letter to the board of directors warning of significant artificial intelligence.
They found that that they thought may endanger mankind, according to two people familiar with the case.
According to the two individuals, the previously undisclosed letter and AI algorithm prompted the board to fire Altman, the poster child of generative AI.
Before his triumphant comeback late Tuesday, more than 700 staff vowed to resign in sympathy with their sacked leader and join supporter Microsoft.
According to the sources, the letter was one of several board issues that contributed to Altman's dismissal.
