Apple started rolling out iOS 27 to the supported iPhones. The rollout started on September 14, 2026, but the Cupertino-based tech giant has confirmed that not all the eligible devices will get the update at the same time.
Therefore, before updating their devices, users first have to make sure that their iPhones are supported and that the update is available in their region. The update brings a fresh look and several useful changes. It also puts more focus on AI.
Once the devices are updated, users get a smarter Siri, new Apple Intelligence features, better call tools, and updates to Messages, Photos, Maps, and the Phone app. Siri can now handle more natural conversations and use context to better understand what users want.
It can also work across supported apps. Aside from Siri, the other app that has received a significant update is Apple Maps. Now the app supports the Flyover experience. This feature uses aerial imagery and Visual Intelligence to provide a detailed view of the route.
If users are confused whether their iPhone is on the eligible list or not, devices starting from iPhone SE (2nd Generation), to iPhone 17 Pro Max, all the Apple iPhones will support iOS 27. But it may roll out at different times. Even the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo will be included in the list.

To install it, users need to open Settings, then go to General and tap on Software Update. They can then select iOS 27 and follow the steps on the screen. If the update is available, it will show there. Apple recommends backing up the phone before installing the update. A stable Wi-Fi connection and enough free storage are also important.
The real test will be daily use. If Siri can understand what is on the screen and help users across different apps, AI may stop feeling like an extra feature. It could become a normal part of using an iPhone. Apple is showing that a major phone change does not always need new hardware. For people with supported iPhones, iOS 27 can bring a fresh experience without buying a new device.
